The BBC documentary series ‘The Met: Policing London’ has now reached Episode 4. The last episode will be screened next Monday, 6th July at 9pm.
The group viewings at Haverstock School on the day following each episode have been well attended, especially by members of local Safer Neighbourhood panels, with lively Q&A sessions in which senior Camden police management have responded to points raised by the audience. A major issue arising from last Monday’s episode, featuring Camden police dealing with a typical 12-hour winter night shift, is the extent to which today’s police service often has to deal with highly disturbed individuals who really need the support of mental health professionals and social services — support that may not be available during night-time hours.
